Changing the way we CCK!

Please read about the changes to Camp Chardi Kala

In its original years, CCK was a youth camp for 8 year old campers and up. For the last 10 years or so, we expanded the camp to include families as we felt the family unit as a whole needed to be involved so as to imbibe Sikhi as a way of life while at home. The ability for the parents and children alike, to experience daily Nitnem and Simran as an example, are an essential part in creating, maintaining and growing our connection to our way of life.

While this approach has been successful, we feel the needs of our community and youth in particular have changed significantly. We need a dedicated time and space for families as well as a dedicated time and space for older youth (14 and above); the latter especially respond better in an environment focused on their needs. As such and to provide the best of both worlds,

We are dividing the CCK week-long camp into 2 separate retreats:

1) One for families with their children of any age

2) One for older youth, 14 and up

The first section called "CCK Family Camp" will run from Sunday - Wednesday early afternoon; The second retreat will be focused on older youth (ages 14 and up) and will run from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

Please read our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section for more information
http://www.campchardikala.org/faq

We also believe the 3-day retreat will allow more parents and older youth to attend as it does not require an entire week off from work/school/college. As a side note, this separation into two retreats does not preclude older youth from attending both the family and the youth retreat; in fact we would encourage their attendance as they are the role models for our younger Khalsas.

We also ask and encourage you to give us your input and suggestions
so that we can tailor the retreats to the needs of our community.

Camp Chardi Kala has been holding Camps for North American Sikh youth for over 40 years.  This is a great opportunity to infuse Chardi Kala for our children and ourselves through interactions with sangat, our peers, international speakers, having discussions, veechar, and fun.
